JAMES CAIRNS
James Cairns leads the CN WorldWide Ground unit including one of Canada's largest door-to-door trucking companies, delivering over 1,200 loads per day. With a strong vision for the future of ground transportation, Cairns’ quest is to continue to expand CN WorldWide transportation and distribution capabilities across the United States and Mexico to reach over 200,000,000 people. Services offered include local drayage, truck brokerage, intercity full load delivery, container yard storage and door-to-door intermodal delivery.
Formerly, James Cairns was Assistant Vice President CN Intermodal (IMX), a role that gave him day-to-day responsibility for running the intermodal customer service reservations and trucking operations. Prior to that, Cairns was Director of Marketing with CN's Petroleum and Chemicals business unit. In this role, James Cairns helped shape the company’s new go-to-market strategy in this very dynamic market sector.
James Cairns brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in key areas of transportation, having held various management positions in the areas of marketing, sales, customer service, and operations for over 20 years with CN.
Mr. Cairns holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Winnipeg and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Queen's University.
GREG DOW
Greg Dow is the Channel Software Manager of qdata. He coordinates the sales and implementations of qdata’s larger software solutions for mobility, logistics and material tracking. He has over 20 years of experience in the Automatic Data Capture industry. During this time he has been managing partner of a number of field service and barcode imprinting operations including Barcode ServiceXpress Inc. and Fixation I.T. Inc.
A graduate of the University of Toronto, he holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
GERHARD FIEDLER
Gerhard Fiedler is the President of LimeROUTE Inc. – a company that specializes in global Supply Chain Management. LimeROUTE’s unique approach enables shippers to eliminate the typical silos that exist in the Supply Chain in order to gain efficiencies that were not achievable before. Mr. Fiedler has had a wide ranging career focusing on Logistics and Information Technology. In the past twenty years, Mr. Fiedler was responsible for the business processes and automation of warehousing and logistics operations on three continents, architected advanced IT solutions and has been featured as a speaker at numerous conferences and educational institutions.
Mr. Fiedler studied electronic engineering in his native Austria and currently lives in Burlington, Ontario.
SCOTT IRVINE
Scott Irvine is Vice President of Business Development for Nulogx Inc, the leader in Transportation Management Solutions. Nulogx provides shippers with technology and services to improve transportation processes and reduce costs. Key elements of these solutions include the largest Freight Audit and Payment service in Canada, an industry leading Transportation Management System, the ability for shippers to fully outsource their transportation needs to a third party and unparalleled insights into Canadian transportation practices.
Nulogx also creates and publishes the “Canadian General Freight Index”, a monthly guide to changing Canadian freight rates.
In his current position, Scott is responsible for all Sales and Marketing activities within Nulogx. Prior to working with Nulogx, Scott was Vice President of Field Sales with Dynamex, based in Dallas TX. Scott has also held senior positions in Sales, Marketing and Corporate Development with Velocity Express, Veredex Logistics and CN Rail.
Scott graduated with a MBA from The Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario and a BComm from the University of Calgary.
RICHARD KUNST
Richard Kunst is the president and CEO of Kunst Art of Solutions. He has an extensive background in manufacturing, production planning, and Lean Enterprise methodologies. His prior positions in executive roles and ownership roles include Warner Entertainment, Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Stackpole, Kromet, GM, Cami, among others including living in Japan for formal training in the Toyota Production System. He has fully embraced the Toyota philosophy, and has worked to apply the concepts holistically across all aspects of an organization in pursuit of Enterprise excellence. His passion is to unleash the potential within organizations using Lean tools and techniques on the shop floor and in admin areas.

JOHN MACGREGOR
John MacGregor, founding Principal and President of TransDevelopment Group, has 30 years of experience in the development of specialized finished vehicle shipping terminals. He has managed a variety of large-scale projects in the United States, Mexico and throughout Europe, including facilities at ports, assembly plants, inland distribution centers, industrial parks and airports. Mr. MacGregor is internationally recognized as an expert in the planning, technical design and implementation of finished vehicle processing centers and other marine-, rail-, and truck-based distribution facilities.
TransDevelopment’s clients represent every step of the “factory-to-dealer” delivery process. Recent projects for manufacturers included the newest US assembly plants for Honda, General Motors, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen. CSX Transportation, Canadian National, Burlington Northern Santa Fe and WWL Logistics are continuing clients for development studies and project work at locations throughout North America. In addition to over sixty US projects, Mr. MacGregor led the development of Mexico’s four leading finished vehicle terminals and has conducted numerous studies for Latin American and Asian waterfront and inland transport facilities.

GEORGE MAGLIANO
George Magliano currently is a Director of Industry Research, North America, for Global Insight. In that role he is the North American group's auto economist, responsible for relating the overall economic and market environment to North American light vehicle sales. His primary role is client interface and presentations, conference appearances and media requests. He is responsible for working with the Director of Global Insight’s North and South American Automotive Forecasting Services, as well as special related project work. He has focused on the automotive industry since 1989, when he joined Economic Consulting and Planning (ECAP) as director of Consumer Research.
Magliano became director of Automotive Research when ECAP was acquired by WEFA, Inc. several years later. For WEFA, he supervised all global automotive research, primarily specializing in forecasting North American vehicle sales and production, as well as many Asian countries. Magliano also has developed models of international trade flows for vehicles and parts and conducted studies of the U.S. aftermarket. In addition, he has directed studies involving customer segmentation, price elasticity, and the outlook under alternative forecast scenarios.
Prior to joining ECAP and WEFA, Magliano was the senior corporate economist for J.P. Stevens, one of the world's largest manufacturers of textiles. While there, he was responsible for all economic and industry forecasting and assisted in the development of the annual corporate business plan. Magliano was educated at St. Francis Collage (Bachelor of Arts) and Fordham University (Master of Arts). He is also a member of the National Association of Business Economists, New York Association of Business Economists, and the Society of Automotive Analysts.
PAUL MARIER
Paul Marier is currently managing the electricity retail side of a company (Comsatec Inc.) that specializes in procurement and management of both Natural Gas and electricity in Ontario.
Since 2000 Paul has spearheaded the company’s product development, marketing and sales for the electricity division with a steady focus on growth and customer satisfaction.
Formerly Paul was employed by Tembec Inc as their Energy Manager and prior to that was employed by Ontario Hydro as and Industrial Advisor in their marketing and sales division. Paul brings a vast array of energy management and utility experience and has a thorough understanding of the Ontario electricity Market.
RONALD MAY
Ronald May is the Director of the Buffalo, New York C-TPAT Field Office. His career began with legacy US Customs in 1987 at the Port of Detroit and he is now completing 23rd year with US Customs and Border Protection. Mr. May began his career in Detroit as a Customs Inspector and moved on to Ports of Houston, TX; Toronto, Canada (pre-clearance); Toledo, OH; Washington, DC (HQ) and finally Buffalo, NY. He was hired as one of the original Supply Chain Security Specialist for the C-TPAT program in early 2004 and has been with the program from the beginning. Mr. May became Director of the Washington, DC C-TPAT Field Office in 2005, and was also the Acting Director of the C-TPAT program for 5 months from March to August of 2007. In October 2007, he accepted the position of Director of the new Buffalo, NY C-TPAT Field Office with the initial duty of making this new field office operational (formally opened in Jan. 2008).
Mr. May received Commissioner’s award from US CBP in 2005 for work on World Customs Organization (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards as well as a Special Achievement award for the same from the WCO itself. This work was a precursor to the current efforts on mutual recognition.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Baldwin-Wallace College; hobbies include attempting to play ice hockey and studying philosophy.
DAVID NEWMAN
David Newman is a Senior Research Analyst covering transportation and aerospace companies. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, having spent more than 10 years as a Research Analyst. He began his career at National Bank Financial in early 2002, after joining the firm from Merrill Lynch's top-ranked Small Cap/Special Situations team.
David is well recognized for providing in-depth, high quality research, and making timely, astute stock calls, having ranked #9 in the Starmine “Top 10 Stock Pickers - 2003”, #2 in stock picking and earnings estimates in Food – 2004, and #1 in stock picking in Food - 2005. KENNETH PEEL
Kenneth (Ken) Peel has been active since 1983 in the railway sector as counsel, advisor and advocate. After serving as General Counsel (Ontario) for a national railway company he rejoined private practice in January, 1998, continuing especially in transportation law, advocacy and dispute resolution in injury, commercial and shipping cases. Ken Peel has also considered railway regulatory & rights of way issues, addressed aboriginal claims & consultation issues in relation to railway and non-railway operations and lands, and assisted with employment management and labour injunctions or grievance dispute resolution issues. In addition, Ken Peel has expertise in drafting and interpreting commercial agreements in the rail sector, and in dealing with rail operators and industry representatives.
Mr. Peel has dealt with federal & provincial regulatory agencies in the transportation, labour and employment, health and safety, and human rights fields and has appeared in all levels of the courts (including the Supreme Court of Canada [CN ats Bhinder][motion for intervention for RAC in CPR ats Zsoldos] and the Court of Appeal for Ontario – such as in the Chippewas of Sarnia “Cameron Lands” case and the Six Nations/Haudenosaunee Caledonia “rule of law” proceedings), as well as in numerous labour and commercial arbitration proceedings and in inquests.
STUART PENMAN
A supply chain professional with twenty years progressive experience in all aspects of consumer products and retail management, Stuart Penman is recognized as a supply chain thought leader, through his continued lecturing at several postgraduate business schools. As a practice leader with Associate Marketing International, he has been actively engaged with preparing clients in the areas of Business Continuation Planning, Pandemic Planning, Disaster Recovery Planning and Emergency Management.
TANGENTIA SPEAKERS
Dr. Sonney George is the head of the Supply Chain Optimization group at Tangentia. He has considerable experience in formulating mathematical equations and using optimisation software such as ILOG to provide companies with savings in their processes as well as to improve effectiveness in their transportation and distribution processes. Dr. George has a PhD in Operations Research and an MBA in Finance & Supply Chain from University of Pennsylvania.
Vijay Thomas is the Principal Consultant at Tangentia with global supply chain redesign expertise. He is a co-founder and partner in Tangentia as well as associate companies Banyan Commerce and Tamarind Technologies. Mr. Thomas has worked with many fortune 500 corporations like Whirlpool, Sony, Bombardier, Honda and many others to help improve their processes and save costs. He has a Bachelor in Engineering and an MBA in Finance and Operation.
T. MIKE RIGGS
T. Mike Riggs is the Chairman and CEO of Innovative Equity Partners LLC. As a trucking industry veteran for the last seventeen years, and prior to that as an executive in manufacturing companies for almost twenty years, Mike is uniquely qualified to evaluate equity investments. Mike has worked with a variety of corporate strategic investors such as Caterpillar, and has also partnered with several private equity firms including Goldman Sachs. Mike fully understands how financings and equity investments can work most effectively. He brings a unique management perspective to view all investments and transactions as a partner and as an operating executive. He is responsible for the strategic planning and capital structures for all investments and acquisitions made by IEP.
Mike’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in business (MBA) from Harvard University in 1979, and an undergraduate degree in business from Kettering University. His work experience includes ten years employment with General Motors in the United States and Europe in various manufacturing, labor relations, and marketing positions. From 1985 until 1991, Mike served as President of Able Body, a manufacturer of heavy truck sleeper cabs. That company grew from $5 million in revenue to over $60 million in less than six years under Mike’s leadership. From 1992 until 2002 Mike became a true entrepeneur, when he became President and CEO of a vehicle transport company called Hook Up, which grew from $1 million in annual revenue in 1992 to over $70 million in 2002. From 2003 through 2004 Mike was given the chance to run a company with over 1,000 employees and became President of Automotive Carrier Services, the parent of Auto Truck Transport and a member of the JHT family of companies. In January of 2005 Mike became the CEO of the parent company, JHT Holdings, and was responsible for over 4,000 employees and almost $500 million in annual revenues. Under Mike’s leadership JHT Holdings achieved record earnings in 2006.
In 2007 he founded Innovative Equity Partners. In 2008 Mike acquired majority ownership in the Teamster based car haul carrier Active Transportation. In the summer 2009, Mike next acquired and became the Chairman/CEO/majority owner of Jack Cooper Transport Co., Inc., one of the largest privately owned auto transport carriers in the nation. Jack Cooper Transport and Active Transportation have now merged, and their combined annualized revenues should exceed $300 million in 2010.
ANDREW ROSZKO
Andrew Roszko is the Vice President of On Demand Solutions at Descartes. He oversees all on-boarding and implementation, customer operations support, customer services, sales support and professional services for the Descartes On Demand Visibility and Routing Solution. Prior to Descartes, Andrew was a founder of Cube Route, which was acquired by Descartes in 2006, and was instrumental in developing and designing the original On Demand Visibility and Routing application. In previous years, Andrew has worked as a consultant at both Telus and Bell.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Science degree in Software Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
DR. ALAN SAIPE
Dr. Alan L. Saipe is the President of Supply Chain Surveys, Inc which provides management surveys and consulting services. He has been part of the transportation and logistics industry for many years as a manager, a consultant and an educator. He held academic appointments at the Faculty of Administrative Studies, York University, and the Faculty of Management at the University of Toronto. He led the supply chain logistics consulting practice at KPMG Consulting. Today, his consulting services include Management Surveys & Benchmarking, Improving Operating Results, Senior Advisory Services and Mediation & Conflict Resolution.

William E. DOUG TOZER
Doug Tozer, C.E.O of the Wheels Group, began his transportation industry career in 1978. Doug worked as a sales and marketing representative for a non-asset based company, providing customer required solutions. He co-founded an intermodal transportation brokerage company in 1980 that was focused on providing early highway logistics for its diverse customer base. In 1988, Doug founded Wheels International and has successfully lead and grown Wheels since that time. Doug is currently the principal shareholder and C.E.O of the Wheels Group of companies that includes seven distinct reporting divisions.
The Wheels Group has maintained an aggressive annualized growth rate in excess of 30% since 2000 while providing consistent profitability for its shareholders. As the founder, Doug is a strong visionary who constantly creates new, leading-edge, non-traditional business models. KATHERINE E. WILSON
As assistant vice president in the CSX Commercial Department, Katherine Wilson is responsible for its comprehensive program of customer support in the area of load engineering and design services and freight claims. Under her leadership, the freight claim’s team seeks equitable and efficient resolution of customer freight claims. In the event of legal action, she is responsible for approving counsel, counsel retention and case management. She is CSX Commercial Department’s primary contact to interpret the freight claim rules, statutes and regulations
The load engineering and design services team, advises customer how to safely transport commodities by rail utilizing the latest technology, developing load patterns, and educational seminars. As members of the AAR, CSX participates with vendors to ensure the industry has available technological tracking devices and load securement techniques.
From the outset of negotiations on the “Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea” held under the auspices of United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, she and Lou Warchot – General Counsel of AAR represented the industry as independent observers and worked very closely with the United States Delegation in formulating the treaty, as the “Rotterdam Rules”. She represented the Industry from 2002 to the conclusion of the negotiations in early 2009, when the treaty was approved the Commission.
